What exactly is srtasks.exe used for?

SRTask.exe is a legit process that creates restore points on your Windows 10 PC. This tool allows you to create a backup copy of your entire hard disk. These backups are stored locally on your computer. If anything happens to your computer, you can use these backups to recover your files and settings. In addition, you can schedule tasks through the Task Scheduler to run at specific hours or days. You should always have at lease one restore point set up on your computer.

Do I need to delete srtasks.exe?

There are two methods to disable Automatic System Restore:

1. Rightclick the start button and select Command Prompt.

2. Type “regedit” without quotes into the command promt window and press enter.

3. Navigate to HKEY\Local\Machine\Software\Policies\microsoft\windows nt\systemrestore\enableautorebootpolicy and set its value to zero.

4. Close registry editor and reboot your computer. You can use either method to re-enable system restore.

5. If you want to change the name of the restore points folder, navigate to HKEY\Local \ Machine\ Software\ Policies\ Microsoft\ Windows Nt\ SystemRestore\ NameOfTheFolderYouWantToChangeAndSetItsValueTo0.

6. Reboot your computer.

8. To enable system restore again, repeat steps 1 – 7.

Step 1: Click Start button and type “Disk Cleanup” in Search box.

Step 2: Press Enter key to open Disk Cleanup window.

Step 3: Select “System Reserved” folder and press OK button.

Step 4: Now select “Temporary Internet Files”, “Recycle Bin” folders and press Delete button.
